Meditation for Cleansing & Balancing the Chakras

How to Cleanse & Balance the Chakras

by Christin Sander

Cleansing and balancing the chakra system is important to the overall health of the individual. Below is an example of a meditation practice that can be used for this purpose.

There are several different methods that can be used to cleanse and balance each of the chakras, the important thing is to find what works and feels comfortable to you. The one below is a simple exercise, it can be done in a few minutes. Practiced each day it will leave the individual feeling more energetic and focused.

The following is a technique that can be used and modified to suit your own needs. Start off by sitting in a chair or standing somewhere comfortable with your feet flat on the ground/floor.

Take a few deep but slow cleansing breaths. The idea isn’t to gasp for air, nor is it to breathe unnaturally, but to get the blood deeply oxygenated. Breath is a natural healing mechanism, and many of us in the west will find that we breathe in a very shallow manner which starves our bodies and brain of oxygen. Breathe in at a slow steady pace and feel the oxygen enter your body, continue the slow steady inhale until the breath has expanded the chest and abdomen, hold as long as is comfortable, and then release and do the exhale at the same slow relaxed pace, blowing through the lips as though you were blowing out a candle.

After three of these breaths release tension and relax more deeply. Take a few comfortable normal breaths as you do this. Once you are comfortable and ready to continue, close your eyes and envision a golden white ball of light above the head. This is the holy light, representing the connection between yourself and the Divine.

This ball of light sits a few feet above the top of the head and begins to expand and stream down. As you allow the light to flow (don’t force or pull it etc) relax even deeper knowing you are safe and at peace. Be fully present with this light, and as the light descends down upon the crown of your head take another deep breath in as we did in the beginning.

As you breathe in say in your mind I allow the light to heal, cleanse and balance. On the exhale I release all that is not for my highest good. Relax and allow the light to move down to the third eye (between the eyebrows) when it is ready, then repeat the breath and mantra on both the inhale and the exhale.

Continue this process slowly and let it flow naturally all the way down your chakra system until it reaches the soles of the feet. When it has reached the soles of the feet, envision a ball of energy from in the Earth rising up slowly into the soles of your feet. Allow this energy to carry away any residual energies that need to be cleansed and take them back into the Earth for reprocessing/healing.

As you continue to relax say a prayer or make an offer of gratitude. Take a few moments to sincerely reflect on all of your life’s blessings and to show appreciation to Spirit for all the abundance that is housed within you. The important thing to remember is that you are a channel allowing these powerful energies to flow through you. You don’t have to have any special talent or abilities to benefit from this healing as “you” are not doing it, but allowing Spirit/God to do this through you. It is an exercise of “allowing”

Another variation others enjoy, is to do this meditation while in the shower. As you feel the water washing over you, you can envision your energy field also being cleansed and balanced. The water as it goes down the drain, carries away all negativity and extra energy.
For grounding and healing also participate in activities that put you in direct contact with the Earth, walk barefoot in the grass, sit with your back against a tree, plant a garden, (this is healing to your Earth mother as well) anything that puts you in contact with nature is deeply rejuvenating and healing.

Enjoy

Positive and Negative Traits of the Suits in Tarot

Today’s subject was suggested to me by a friend and I thought it would make for an interesting blog post. The positives and challenges that each suit represents.

As you know the suits in a Tarot deck all have traits as well as the individual cards themselves. When a particular suit shows up in abundance, it also indicates that suits theme is an overlying theme to your reading. All the suits in Tarot have different traits – some positive and some challenging. A lot of the suit upright tends to indicate more positive aspects of that suit showing up in the person/situation being read. A lot of reversals of the same suit can indicate that the challenges associated with that particular suit play a role as well in understanding the overall theme of the spread.

So here are the suits of the Tarot and the strengths and challenges they represent.

The Suit of Wands
This is the suit that speaks of fiery passion, a lot of initiative and great ideas. When wands show up in abundance it typically indicates something in the planning stage, ideas that are swimming around but haven’t been acted on yet, deep passion and interest in a subject, but not a lot of knowledge or experience yet in said area.

The Positive Traits of Wands
Ambition
Excitement and Passion
Newness and Potential
Extroverted or outgoing
Charming and Fun
Analytical/Thinking/Planning

The Negative Traits of Wands (when wands are reversed or appear in challenge positions in your spread)
Headstrong and impatient
Tendency to “brag” or need to be the center of attention
Little attention to detail – very disorganized
Difficulty finishing what one starts or acting on ideas
Detachment emotionally from others – too self-absorbed or too “mental” at the expense of creativity/emotion

The Suit of Cups
This is the Suit that speaks of emotion, intuition, deep spiritual connection and feeling empathy with others. Highly creative and artistic people usually have a lot of cups as well. Passions that run deep and high sensitivity. People with an abundance of cups energy are extremely compassionate and deeply feeling people – often to their own detriment when not properly balanced.

Positive Traits
Extremely Creative and Visual
Empathy for Others
Compassionate & Often Called to Service
Clairvoyant/Empathic Psychic Abilities
Deep emotions – can be capable of extreme joy and feelings of spiritual connection

Challenges
Overemotional – blocks the intuition
Too sensitive – bruises easily
Prone to feelings of helplessness or “smallness” – highly insecure / anxiety
Martyrdom – sacrifice self to please others in ways that are unhealthy
Not enough balance between analytical/creative

The Suit of Swords
This is the suit of action – moving forward on ideas, making things happen. When swords come up in abundance it means things are quickly manifesting or being played out. Unfolding of events and progress (or decline depending on the direction taken)

Positive Traits
Motivated
Don’t let fear stop them
Determination
Active – Often Athletic Great Endurance Physically, Mentally, Emotionally
Ambitious

Negative Traits
Overly ambitious – steps on others
Headstrong and resistant to change
Rude and Inconsiderate
Control Issues
Doesn’t Negotiate Well or Listen

The Suit of Pentacles
In the tarot this is the suit that speaks of the final stage of a process, manifestation, rewards and/or consequences for ones actions. This is the final stage of a process from thought, feeling, action to outcome. When Pentacles show in abundance it means the culmination or final outcome of a process

Positive Traits
Goal Oriented
Understands the Value of Hard Work
Determination
Finishes What One Starts
Manages Time & Resources Well
Responsible

Negative Traits
Greed
Focus on Limitations and Lack Instead of Prosperity
Self-Sabotaging
Doesn’t Stick to Positive Goals
Squanders or Mismanages Time and/or Money and other Resources.

The Universal Laws Explained

I wrote a hub last month “The Twelve Universal Laws Explained in a Nutshell”. It was wildly popular and prompted some people to ask me some questions etc.

We all know sometimes great inspiration can come from seemingly small things. Knowing that a “nutshell” version cannot do justice to the Universal Laws – I have created a blog/website that is devoted specifically to explaining these concepts in-depth. I hope you will find it inspiring and useful and will want to share it with others.

For many years I have practiced these concepts and have learned a great deal from a variety of teachers, guides, and other sources. I have learned through experience what works, what doesn’t and how to make the universal laws work in my life. By sharing my knowledge and experience I hope that others will learn to use the same concepts.

There is no easy secret, no quick fix, and the key lies in the willingness to actually apply yourself. We live in a world full of flashy sound bites and “quick fixes” – but some things take time and patience to cultivate – in fact that is one of the universal laws ;) the law of gender – which states once a seed is planted – it requires time and nurturing to grow.

Anyway, I hope you will visit and learn more about the universal laws. The blog is a work in progress and a labor of love. Universal laws are all encompassing and focusing only on the “law of attraction” by itself will not produce the desired results. In fact, in all likelihood you are needing to hone your manifesting skills and I will show you for free how to do that.

The Universal Laws have changed lives – including mine – so I love to share.

What Tarot Deck Should I Choose?

I have had some questions lately on choosing a Tarot deck and requests for advice, what to look for etc.

It all depends on what you are wanting your deck for. If you are wanting to use it to do readings and you are a beginner – I recommend sticking with the Waite decks or decks that stick closely to the traditional meanings – why? Simply because there is more information and learning materials out there for those decks.

If you are more intermediate or are comfortable in the process of developing your own interpretations – then you should branch out. Look for decks that speak to you and your beliefs. There are Gnostic Christian decks, shaman decks, pagan decks, more secular decks. Think of anything, and you can likely find a Tarot deck or some other card reading system based on it.

Other people collect decks for the various artworks. I have a couple of decks that I don’t typically use for readings, but I love them for the artwork. The Halloween Tarot comes to mind. I was born on Halloween (how fitting right? LOL) and we adore that holiday around here. The Halloween Tarot is very cute! It has ghosts, pumpkins, witches etc. and is very whimsical and fun. I find it more difficult to read because of the nature of it – and so I only do readings with it on or around Halloween for family and friends.

I also have the Golden Tarot – I adore this one for the artwork, but I also find it sturdy and functional, so I use it for both.

The Shaman Wisdom deck I don’t use for readings at all – I use that one for meditation and spiritual focus. I love it and use it differently than I do other decks.

So – what deck should you pick? That depends on what you want to use it for. It also depends on your reading/experience level. That being said, beginners CAN use different decks – and you can learn to use and read ANY Tarot Deck with the techniques I use here.

Learning with a Tarot Journal is effective for learning to read your cards regardless of the deck you pick, but for those who want to look at interpretations of others etc. you may want to use a deck based on the traditional Rider-Waite for starters. You don’t have to pick just one ;) and if you’re like me you’ll end up with several over time – being drawn to different ones for various reasons.
