Tarot Wisdom: Eight of Swords
In this card we see a woman in peril, bound and blindfolded she is surrounded by sure and immenent danger with those Eigth swords looming.... or is she? Upon closer examination we see that her legs are free, she can choose to walk away and free herself. So it is in life, often we feel victims to hard circumstances, or we feel powerless to effect change. We focus so much on the blindfold and swords we forget our legs. This card serves as a reminder that no matter how difficult our circumstances we always have inner strength and power to deal with them. Don't give your power away to outer circumstances or you risk remaining imprisoned. Return to Free Reading Page |

Eight of Swords 1st Position: Focuses on a period of blindness, being in the dark, restriction, locked into hardships or limbo. Feeling victimized by life's circumstances. Not realizing the freedom to make changes. 2nd Position: You need to release yourself from the ties that bind and get out of an oppressive situation. Feeling a desire for someone/something to come to your rescue. Needing to find inner strength to make necessary changes. 3rd Position: You feel forced to accept conditions as they are, feel incapable of effecting change in your life, you have the tendency to let your fear lock you into dangerous or oppressive situations. A period of blindness and lack of accountability or unwillingness to see the whole truth in a situation. This card in this position is a wake up call to a need to be very honest and objective about the situation. 4th Position: It's time to be honest with yourself. Don't give your Personal Power away by allowing yourself to feel victimized by conditions. We can't always change outer circumstances, and we certainly can't change other people. Your power comes by being conscious of the fact that you are in complete control of chosing how you respond to events and knowing you have the power to make changes in your own life. 5th Position: Time to remove the blindfold and see the situation full circle rather than just the straight and narrow. The power to change situations lies within. In this card the woman is bound and blindfolded, surrounded by danger - but her legs are free.
