Four of Cups
Tarot Wisdom: Four of Cups

In this card we see a young man sitting beneath the Tree of Life focusing on all the cups out of his reach. He is so caught up in all of those elusive things, that he doesn't even notice the hand of God reaching out to him to quench his thirst. This card reminds us to not devote our attention to all the things others have that we don't, or to fixate on all we think will make us happy etc. If we are willing to let go of all we "think" we want or need we leave room for the blessings that are right before us to manifest. Now is a time to focus on cultivating your real self. Use that Divine sustenance to bring out your fullest potential.

Four of Cups

1st Position:
Indicates a period of extreme want for something, becoming so caught up in feelings of want or need that there is a sense of something always missing. Not seeing all your options.

2nd Position:
You have a compulsion or obsessive desire which may be clouding you from perceiving the whole truth in a situation. Focused so intently on personal desire that you are not seeing alternatives that are being presented.

3rd Position:
You are learning that "things" and other people do not provide happiness. There is a tendency here towards avoidance of pain or problems ,by focusing your attention outwards trying to "fix" others, , or acquire "things" to sublimate the emptiness you feel. Fear of not finding fulfillment.

4th Position:
There is always hope, even when you don't recognize it. You need to know, that we are all created as part of a Divine plan and our experiences shape and mold us into what we become. Without hardships we would not appreciate joy, but when we focus only on the hardships we become unable to notice and fully appreciate the blessings. Choose to focus on the positives. Accept the abundant blessings you have and work hard to truly appreciate them. Once you begin to let yourself heal, you will find the Universe will open up to you and you will be better able to accept the new and better circumstances that are trying to find their way to you . Like the man in the card, don't become too self absorbed to notice that hand from heaven handing you sustenance.

5th Position:
This is a period of healing where you are going to have to put your needs first for the moment. Putting your needs first however does not mean becoming self-absorbed. Now is a time to honor yourself: your strengths, your blessings and to cultivate your natural talents rather than reflecting on all you feel you lack. Reach out and accept the Divine gifts being presented to you now.
